What were some of the challenges and successes you experienced in creating your leadership blog?

 The most challenging experience creating a leadership blog was navigating the site to ensure that all the material I needed to include was properly uploaded and formatted. I had never created a blog site before and it took some time to understand the program and how to navigate it properly. However, once I figured out how to use the Blogger, it became more intuitive. Another challenge creating the leadership blog was how to share my thoughts and experiences in an interesting manner. I certainly struggle with promoting myself to others. This media format seems to emphasize this quality in people so I had to go outside of my comfort zone to provide details of my leadership in the school. However, with more time and experience I feel that I will become more confident in how I present myself online and promote the good things that happen at my school.

PQP Project - Thoughts on the Process

I have been working with my principal over the last few months to develop a PQP project that would benefit the school. We came up with a project that would focus on assisting teachers in implementing the grade 9 de-streaming program. Some of the ideas discussed would be to survey teachers on their experience teaching the grade 9 de-streamed classroom this past year and ask for their input on what they need to better address student learning moving forward. So far, the we have had some great responses from teachers and we are hoping to provide follow up initiatives and strategies for our teachers to teach the curriculum more effectively. We are hoping that through this project at St. Peter's we can address a couple of important areas to ensure that student success can be achieved. PQP Google Classroom: Leadership Topic - Setting Direction

Our group had the opportunity to hear from two guest speakers: Sean Kelly, superintendent of Student Success (Intermediate and Senior) and Shelley Montgomery, superintendent of Student Success (Elementary). Both approached the idea of leadership aspirations from a very different perspective but each clearly communicated the importance of accepting leadership positions from a place of genuine concern to affect change.  Sean Kelly highlighted his journey to becoming a superintendent as an extension of the joy of teaching and the importance of maintaining a connection with student learning. From his own experience in the system as a student to his current position, Sean has clearly expressed his ideas about building relationships and accountability with oneself and the school communities.
